Overview
With the Team management feature, you can ensure effective succession planning at your company. As a team leader, you can pinpoint succession candidates and further manage successors for your team members. As a result, you get talented people ready to move into key positions when the current occupants leave. To this end, use the Talents tab of the Team management area.
Team MGMT becomes available on the navigation menu once you are assigned as a team leader.
To start adding successors for any of your team members, follow the steps listed below:
1. On the Talents page, select that team member for whom you want to find and add successors, and then open the talent’s profile.
On the Talents page, you can view both direct and indirect reports if the system is set up accordingly. For more details, contact your administrator.
2. In the talent’s profile pane that opens, navigate to the Successors tab.
The Successors tab becomes available if the system is set up accordingly. Depending on the settings, you can either view successors added to the talent or find and add successors to the talent yourself. For more details, contact your administrator.
3. To start looking for successors and add the right succession candidates to your team member, click + Add successors or the plus sign.
4. On the Find successors page that opens, you can see a list of succession candidates. These are talents with the similar skills the given team member has.
A list of succession candidates shows matching public profiles of talents available in the system as well as private profiles of your team members.
For each candidate, you can see their name and job, skill match, and location.
5. Click a record of the candidate you want to make a successor. As a result, the candidate details pane opens. Here you can view such details of the candidate’s profile as skill match, job history, skill profile, etc.
6. Once you have found the right candidate, click Select as successor.
On the Find successors page, you can see candidates that match the skills of the team member for whom you want to find the right successor.
You can organize candidate records in the list by sorting them by matching score. To this end, click the Match column.
To pick out the candidate who meets your requirements most closely or just to make a large number of results easier to work with, you can filter the list of candidates.
Filter records through to the dashboard tiles:
- All candidates. Shows all matching candidates.
- Next step job. Shows candidates whose first step of the development plan matches the current job of the given team member.
- Current job. Shows candidates whose current job matches the current job of the given team member.
- Development step. Shows candidates whose further steps of the development plan matches the current job of the given team member.
Click the tile of your choice, and the list of candidates is updated accordingly.
The availability of tiles depends on how the list if filtered: by current job or by skill profile.
You can also filter candidate records either by the current job the given team member has or the team member’s skill profile. To this end, select the option you need from the corresponding drop-down box.
Filtering records by current job shows candidates whose current jobs match the one of the given team member as well as candidates who have the other jobs with the same job requirements as the current job of the given team member.
In addition, you can filter the list of candidates by a matching method:
- Direct match
- Extended match
To this end, select the matching method you need in the matching method drop-down box. Once you select Direct match, only records of the candidates who possess the exact skills the given team member has populate the list. If you want to view also candidates with related skills, select Extended match.
By default, the candidate records are filtered by hard skills potential candidates possess, and they have 50% of skill match minimum.
To narrow down the search results or, on the contrary, to expand your search, you can further manipulate filters. To this end, click Filter. As a result, the Filter pane opens.
